Mitlenatch Island: the Galapagos of the Salish Sea – 6 hour Zodiac Boat Tour – $150 pp

This tour takes you on an exploration of some of the islands of the Salish Sea, with a focus on the dynamic and distinct ecosystem of Mitlenatch Island. Nicknamed the “Galapagos of the Georgia Strait” this island is a nesting colony, home to 30,000 nesting gulls, cormorants, and others species of sea birds. Otters, seals and sea lions also make their home here.

After circumnavigating the island by boat, we will disembark to explore the spectacular variety of spring and summer wild flowers, which include many native species, even prickly pear cacti and visit the bird blind. Our shore time concludes with a delicious homemade lunch, and once back on board our route takes us by Twin and Cortes Islands, Desolation Sound and Copeland Islands Marine Park.  Beautiful at all times of year, but May & June are best for wildflowers!

JUNE – Mountains & Waterfalls

Beyond Desolation Sound: Toba Inlet – 8 hour Zodiac Boat Tour    $205 pp

Imagine steep mountains, glacial green water, and cascading waterfalls!

This trip differs from the others, in that we get a chance to go beyond the popular Desolation Sound, to experience something a little more remote, a little more stunning and a little bit wilder. Traveling up Homfray Channel, into Toba Inlet (as the winds and weather allow) and completing a full circumnavigation of East Redonda Island, we get a sense of the magnitude of this coastline, the depth of the history here, and leaves us wishing we could just keep exploring.
